Amitava Chaudhuri has studied at St Mary's Lucnow. He got his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalpur, and joined the Indian Railways as an officer in 1995. He is presently posted at Chittaranjan Locomotive Works as Deputy General Manager and Chief Public Relations Officer. Chaudhuri is married and has two children : Aryan, 8; Ananya,4.
